Lisa Hayward-England has been providing Hellam Varon with her particular set of skills since she first answered a newspaper ad for a staff accountant job in 1986. She never dreamed that her need to fulfill the auditing hours requirement for CPA certification would lead to the job of a lifetime. “I thought I’d work here a few years and leave for greener pastures but I discovered I was already in the greenest pasture. I could not have found better mentors than Chuck Hellam and Steve Varon anywhere.” She primarily focuses on audits and reviews for closely held businesses, helping her clients create the financial statements they need when they need them.
Besides being known by name in multiple departments at Nordstrom, Lisa loves to travel and takes a yearly cruise in the Caribbean each November. She recently took a memorable trip to the South Pacific (Tahiti, Moorea and Bora Bora), and if asked nicely, will tell an amusing anecdote involving her husband, Allen, a few glasses of wine, the deck ladder of their overwater bungalow, and a shark. Her most recent adventure involved a week in the Galapagos Islands which included watching a sea lion pup chase the tail of a marine iguana.
When it comes to her job, Lisa is always client oriented. "I like to explain to people who think I’ve only had one job that I’ve actually had hundreds of jobs working for hundreds of clients in hundreds of industries. I love it here." She goes on to say, "I like the people. I like being able to provide them things that they'll need. And I love when I'm able to alert a client to a potential financial land mine before it has the chance to cause problems."
